About Me:
From the moment I viewed Pierre Bonnard's "Nude in the Bathtub" at the Pompidou Museum in Paris I knew I wanted to create art that would convey my inner feelings through color, shapes and texture. Having grown up in a Bohemian household in Miami full of lively music, dance and art it was only natural to bring these elements into my work.
As I use my body to energetically paint, scrape, stab, cut and splatter, constantly moving with the music. Many elements have come into play lately using photo transfer, molded fabrics, wires, encaustics burned and dripped into the piece. Painting intuitively, spontaneously with fast, sure strokes seeking to translate the energy and mood of the current political climate, my personal journey, or wherever I happen to be in that moment.
Continually changing my style I want to convey a raw, open, primitive experience. I'm painting feelings, emotions, my voice, exposing the interior bravely, unapologetically and without fear.
"French Birds"
Acrylic on canvas. 30" x 40" This painting is my reaction to the Paris attacks at the Bataclan theatre in November 2015 where 130 people were massacred. One person was quoted as saying, "They were shooting at us like if we were birds" That stuck in my head and this is the result. $400.
